In the late 80s and into the 1990s, the influence of designer glamour had never been stronger. This was the era of Supermodels.
Claudia Schiffer became the face of Chanel at the end of the 1980s, just as designer logos began to dominate the scene.
Claudia Schiffer demonstrates the luxe accessories that Karl Lagerfeld introduced at Chanel to go with the teeny bikinis the couture house was producing. A diamante belt is worn around a bare midriff, between two small, mirror-sequined bikini pieces for a 1995 showing.
And because I know you'll enjoy this, here's a small video of some of the designer swimwear from 1995. Chanel, Gucci, Chloe, Versace, Donna Karan, need I go on?
The 1996 Chanel designs are somewhat reminiscent of the early years. Printed on pearls reproduce the bejeweled look Coco Chanel loved and which Karl Lagerfeld rekindled.
